Origins Austria

Working together for Recognition, Reconciliation and Societal Resilience against Anti-Semitism and Racism

Origins Austria is a non-profit, non-partisan and non-governmental association based in Vienna, dedicated to promoting holistic peacebuilding and trauma-sensitive integration.

The main purpose of the association is to provide trauma-sensitive support and legal support to people who have experienced displacement —either in their own lives or within their family stories— and wish to obtain or retain Austrian citizenship.

Our range of services is aimed in particular at people of the third and subsequent generation(s) who wish to assert their right to an Austrian passport in accordance with § 58c StbG as descendants of victims of Nazi persecution.

Since its foundation in 2021, ORIGINS has worked closely with legal experts in migration and citizenship law. With the expansion of our services to include trauma-sensitive biographical work and family history storytelling, we provide supervision for our support services through a historical and memory-culture lens, as well as with a psychologist specializing in trauma therapy.
